This keynote paper will provide an overview of the art and science of rational relationships. It will also provide rational-emotive-behavioral key components to finding, maintaining, and developing intimate, healthy, and successful relationships.
Dr. Chrysoula Kostogiannis, studied Psychology in the United States of America, and holds degrees in Psychology (Bachelor of Science, 1986) from Baylor University in Texas, postgraduate degree in Psychology (Master of Arts, 1991) and doctoral degree Psychology (Doctorate of Philosophy, 1994) from Hofstra University in New York, in Clinical and School Psychology. She completed her post doctoral clinical training at the Albert Ellis Institute in New York, where she participated in Post-Doctorate Fellowship Training in Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy, in 2000. In 2003, she founded, and since then directs, the Hellenic Institute for Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavior Therapy in Athens, Greece, which is an Albert Ellis Affiliated Training Center. Dr. Kostogiannis supervises mental health professionals, especially psychologists and psychiatrists, as part of their training in Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, in Athens at other international affiliated centers.
From 1995 until 2012, she served as Professor of Psychology and Assistant Head of the Department at the American College of Greece (Deree College), where she taught courses of applied psychology, including, Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Adults Psychopathology, Counseling Psychology and Schools of Psychotherapy, Psychometrics, Assessment of Intelligence and Personality, Theories of Personality, Diversity and Stress Management. During the period 2012-2013, she was appointed Director of Psychology programs at the Hellenic American University/Hellenic American College, where she operated the master’s degree program in Clinical Psychology, while during the period 2013 – 2014, she was appointed Chair of Psychology of the Hellenic American University/Hellenic American College in Athens, Greece. In addition, in 2013, she established the Hellenic American University/ Hellenic American College University Center and served as its Director until 2014. Dr. Kostogiannis, presents a rich research background, where she investigates the effectiveness of Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, with diverse issues, including cultural underpinnings of psychopathology, anger, depression, eating disorders and obesity, relationship issues and others. Within the context of Clinical Psychology, she is an expert in Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Counseling and Coaching with individuals, groups, and couples, addressing psychological issues and promoting psychological wellbeing. In addition, Dr. Kostogiannis works in private practice with individuals, groups and couples with various socio-emotional and behavioral issues. She has collaborated as an external associate psychologist, with business executives in various organizations, for the promotion of professional satisfaction and prosperity of human resources.
